The name Martin is forbidden in Islam
It's meaning is one concecrated to the false god of war Mars (Latin version of Azazil = Belial /Iblis)
It is forbidden because
- it denotes servitude to other than Allah
- it promotes the name of a false deity
- it has the name of an idol
- it has the name of a demon
- war (harb) is one of the names specifically forbidden
- it has a bad meaning (war)
